About this course
The golf course was created in the year 1999 as a magnanimous gesture by IOC for the help rendered by IAF to them during a fire tragedy at Digboi. They in reciprocation helped this station in making the course which also helped in clearing the flight safety zone, as this base had just become operational after a gap of 5 years. The course has a total of nine holes. The tee off’s are constructed in surplus so as to facilitate a game of 28 holes. There are a total of three dog leg fairways (1, 2 and 4) & the remaining greens are aligned straight. The golf course is very much renowned for its various features like outstanding location, extraordinary fairways & good greens. This course is so lovely that people apart from golfers also
make visits here on picnics. The golf course has a thick jungle on one side which is known to house huge flock of crows & plenty of snakes. The crows at the course take away balls with deliberate precision, assuming them to be eggs.In September 2005, one afternoon about 350 monkeys entered the golf course. The labor & golf staff working nearby had to take shelter in the golf hut & lock themselves inside. Finally security personnel had to come & escort them out while the monkeys created havoc on the course. It took weeks for the course to get back to normal. At times cheetahs are also seen in & around the course & very frequently pug marks of cheetahs are found in the bunkers and aprons. They also play like us and growl in frustration.
